Problem:what will happen to the balloon when it (the bottle) is placed in cold and hot water

Research:Expand:all the atoms vibrate Contract:taking away energy (to take up less space) (expand)

Hypothesis:tf you put the balloon over the hot water bottle then the balloon will fill up (What about cold water?)

Materials: Safety goggles, Balloon, Plastic bottle, Warm water, Cold water

Procedure:

1.) Stretch the opening of the balloon over the neck of the bottle.
2.) Observe the balloon at room temperature. Record observations.
3.) Place the bottle with the ballon in the warm water for about 30 seconds.
4.) Observe the ballon again and record any changes you see in the balloon.

5.) Remove the bottle and ballon from the warm water and quickly place it in the cold
water for about 30 seconds (or until it cools).
6.) Observe the ballon and record any changes you see in the ballon.

Results:

Describe the physical characteristics of the balloon.

Water Temperature
Prediction
Description of the Balloon
Room Temperature

80F

went to the side
Warm
blow up
expanded a little bit
Cold

contract and not do anything!
sagged to the side and contracted

Conclusion:My hypothises was correct, my results were that the hot water balloon will blow up and stand up and the cold water will deflat and sag down. It ecpanded because the hot water blew it up. the cold water with the balloon contracted because it was in cold water not hot.

I can state a hypothesis related to the problem and procedure.
I can conduct research about concepts that are related to the topic I am investigating.
I can collect quantitative/qualitative data while conducting an experiment.
I can use the data in my results to draw a conclusion about what happened and why.
Overall, I can apply the scienctific method to solve a problem.
